Now youβve bought a beautiful piece, itβs time to talk about looking after it!
As a starting point, take your rings and bracelets off of youβre planning to do any activity involving your hands. Itβs all too easy to knock or scuff a piece as part of everyday life. Similarly, if youβre getting ready to go out, sort your hair and make-up first. The easiest way to clean jewellery is to not get it dirty in the first place.
If your jewellery does need a clean, use warm (not hot!) and mildly soapy water with a very soft brush. The best bet is a soft toothbrush and a drop of washing up liquid. Dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Finally, when itβs time to put your jewellery away, keep your items separate by wrapping them in tissue or cloth when travelling, or stored in separate compartments of a jewellery box. This includes separating each earring in a pair. The most damage to jewellery is done by other jewellery.
